All 100 Big Belugas in one mosaic

From .012 SOL to 100 1/1s

Everybody in crypto has a "how it started" screenshot. Mine is a wallet balance.

.012 SOL. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

This is the long version of how that turned into 100 one-of-one belugas, plus the stuff I wish somebody had told me while I was on the floor.

How it started: rugged

I was a mod and collab manager around pump.fun and fomo. Helping launches, hyping friends, running the group chats, watching charts go vertical and then go to zero.

In November 2025, one of those zeros was mine. I got rugged. Not "down bad." Rugged. Wallet said .012 SOL, and that was the whole bag.

I posted that I was leaving Solana with my last .012. Half joke, half goodbye. Then I pinned a post called "swimming to BNB," asking CZ and BNB Chain for support. A beluga with nothing, shooting the biggest shot I could think of. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

(To be clear: nobody at Binance or BNB Chain has endorsed Big Belugas, and I'm not claiming they did. #000 "CZ The Builder" is a gift, not a partnership. Builders build.)

Nobody came to save me. Which, honestly, was the best thing that could've happened. Because it meant the only move left was to build.

What got built (the timeline)

No investors. No team. About 110 followers. One laptop. Here's what came out of the last year, roughly in order.

1. Line art, every day.
I started drawing again. Simple line art, nothing fancy. A beluga kept showing up: big round melon head, little smile, the friendliest animal in the ocean. Belugas live in pods and survive the cold by sticking close. That clicked for me hard.

2. Side quests to stay alive.
I started making $350 brand kits for other builders and projects (DMs still open). Main YouTube is @nftraffi. I play piano covers at night on @halfgufa, the piano visualizer kind, and TikTok as @nftraffi. Some nights the piano was the only thing that made sense.

3. Vibe-coding the generator.
I'm not a "real" engineer. I vibe-coded anyway. One beluga, a big pile of accessories, a set of glowing ocean worlds, and a generator that remixes them into one-of-ones. Every beluga got a name and a little story. The trait sheet ended up with 12 backgrounds, 11 neon palettes, piano players, painters, hockey belugas, baby belugas tagging along. Yes, the pod has my hobbies.

4. Two hand-curated pieces.
98 belugas came from the generator. Two are hand-curated: #000 "CZ The Builder" (gold hard hat, hammer, stacking blocks on Builder's Reef) and #013 "The Condado Bad Boy" (gloves, chain, shades, Condado Beach). One for the builder I shot my shot at. One for me.

5. The cartoon edition.
Neon line art is the soul, but I wanted something softer too. So the pod is a mix of neon line art and a cartoon edition: white beluga, clean black outline, little brown backpack. Same characters, second look. #013 got a whole Condado gallery out of it, from the beach to the belt.

6. BigBelugas.com.
Built the site myself. It's the home for the pod and the only official link. That matters more than people think (more on that below).

7. The videos.
Teaser, a "meet the pod" reel, beluga-of-the-day clips, a #013 reveal, a mint countdown. Little neon belugas swimming to a soundtrack. Made on the same laptop that once held .012 SOL. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

8. A real launch plan.
Allocation (30 Founder Invites, 10 BB Invites, 60 public), gifting, invites, a calendar, an anti-scam checklist. Not a roadmap full of promises, just a plan for getting 100 belugas into the hands of real people.

9. Today: 100 belugas, #000 to #099.
Chain: [CHAIN]. Mint: [DATE]. Price: [PRICE]. And another collection is already taking shape after this one. ๐Ÿ‘€

Lessons from the trenches

I'm not a guru and I'm not rich. These are just the things that kept me alive.

Your wallet isn't your worth. The balance is a number. You're the person who keeps showing up. Separate the two or the chart will run your life.

Build something nobody can rug. Skills, art, code, a reputation for being a real one. Tokens can go to zero. What you learned doesn't.

Make side income that isn't a chart. Brand kits paid for my coffee while the belugas got built. A boring, honest service you can sell is a superpower in a bear market.

Ship ugly, then fix it. The first generator output was rough. The first cartoon tests were rough. Shipping beat waiting every single time.

Vibe-code it. You don't need permission or a CS degree to build your own tools. You need patience and a willingness to break stuff.

Small is fine. 110 followers is not an excuse, it's a starting line. I'd rather have 50 people who actually care than 5,000 bots.

Gift first. A fifth of this pod is going out as gifts to builders and people who kept this space worth building in. Generosity is the best marketing I know, and it feels better than any shill.

Don't fake it. No bought followers, no bot raids, no "guaranteed floor." The underdog story only works if it's true.

One link. Always. The trenches are full of fake mints. Pick one official link and repeat it until people are sick of you. For me: bigbelugas.com. I'll never DM you first, and I'll never ask for your seed phrase.

Keep the free internet free. I care about self-custody, privacy and open tools. The reason any of us can do this, launch art with no gatekeeper from a bedroom, is that people built an open internet and fought to keep it that way. Respect that by building honestly on it.

Nobody swims alone

A year ago: .012 SOL, a sketchbook and a laptop.
Today: 100 belugas and a pod.

If you're in the trenches right now, reading this with your own sad wallet screenshot, I see you. Get up. Draw the thing. Code the thing. Post the thing. ๐Ÿ˜ญ
