Pod Lore: The Big Belugas Universe
People keep asking "ok but what's the lore." ๐ญ
So I opened the trait sheet for all 100 belugas and turned it into a tour. Every number in this post comes straight from that sheet. No made-up rarity, no "legendary tier." Just the pod.
Rule #1 of the universe: nobody swims alone
Real belugas live in pods. They chirp at each other constantly (people call them sea canaries), they travel together, and they survive the cold by sticking close.
That's the whole world. Every beluga has a name, a job and a tiny story, and almost every story ends the same way: because nobody swims alone, proof that we make it further together, and always circles back for the pod.
100 belugas, #000 to #099. 98 generative one-of-ones and 2 hand-curated. Every single one a 1/1.
The worlds (12 backgrounds)
The pod lives across ten shared worlds, each home to 9 or 10 belugas:
- Moonlit Surface (10). Where #002 Hoku the Wanderer carries everything the pod might need, and #027 Lumi the Composer plays lullabies on floating keys.
- Kelp Forest (10). #003 Indy the Gardener plants sea-flowers, and #072 Opal the Muralist leaves neon murals between the swaying kelp.
- Ice Shelf (10). Under the Arctic ice, #091 Pip Lamplight keeps the dark from feeling lonely, and #017 Zinnia the Pianist plays midnight covers.
- Crystal Cave (10). #005 Moss One-Timer dangles the puck past every eel, and #062 Confetti Gem throws the best parties.
- Starfield Abyss (10). The deepest, starriest dark, where #041 Poppy the Pearlkeeper guards a pearl that never stops glowing.
- Aurora Surface (10). Where the northern lights meet the waves. #033 Oona Top Shelf never misses an open net.
- Bioluminescent Bay (10). Glowing plankton, lantern-keepers and DJs. #099 Jojo the Swift never stops chirping.
- Synthwave Seafloor (10). Retro neon grids. #024 Taro Keys plays piano covers here, and #010 Wisp the Snug knits beanies for everyone.
- Deep Water (9). The open blue, where #070 Skipper Nemo-Rae steers the pod home.
- Coral Reef (9). #029 Waffles Encore plays midnight piano over the coral gardens with a baby beluga tucked close.
And two landmarks that exist exactly once:
- Builder's Reef, home of #000 "CZ The Builder", stacking glowing blocks so the pod always has somewhere to grow.
- Condado Beach in San Juan, Puerto Rico, home of my own #013 "The Condado Bad Boy." The only beluga who swam south. ๐ฅ๐๏ธ
The glow (11 neon palettes)
Every beluga is drawn in one neon palette: Gold and Arctic Pearl (10 each), Electric Blue, Bubblegum, Fire, Seafoam, Toxic Lime, Ice, Galaxy and Neon Rainbow (9 each), and Synthwave (8).
How they swim
- 5 poses: Cruising (32), Rising (23), Drifting (17), Tail Flick (16), Diving (12).
- Facing: 60 swim right, 40 swim left. (Some of you will read meaning into that. Go ahead. ๐ญ)
- 7 expressions: Smile (30), Grin (23), Determined (16), Joyful (12), Wink (8), Heart Eyes (7) and Starry-Eyed (only 4).
The jobs (yes, the pod has my hobbies)
What a beluga holds is basically its job:
- 15 piano players (Piano Keys). I play piano covers on YouTube as @halfgufa (main channel: @nftraffi), so of course.
- 13 painters (Paint Brush). Muralists who turn every wave into a canvas.
- 11 hockey belugas (Hockey Stick & Puck). Dekes, slapshots, one-timers. I'm a hockey guy, I couldn't help it.
- 7 lantern-keepers (Glow Lantern), carrying light for the slow swimmers.
- 6 pearlkeepers (Glowing Pearl).
- Exactly 1 hammer (#000) and exactly 1 pair of boxing gloves (#013).
- The other 46 hold nothing, because some belugas are just here to vibe.
The fits
- Headwear (63 wear something): Headphones (13), Halo (10), Flower Crown (10), Crown (10), Beanie (8), Party Hat (7), Captain Hat (4), and exactly one Hard Hat.
- Eyewear (19): Dive Mask (9), Sunglasses (6), Heart Shades (4).
- Neckwear (45): Scarf (22), Bow Tie (13), Medal (9), and exactly one Gold Chain. Guess who. ๐ญ
- Backpacks: 39 belugas carry one, for the long migrations.
The company they keep
66 belugas don't travel alone:
- 26 swim with a baby beluga, teaching it how to glide.
- 21 have a school of fish close behind.
- 19 have jellyfish lighting the path.
And the little extras floating around them: Sparkles (29), Plankton Trail (22), Bubble Stream (13), Hearts (10) and Music Notes (9).
Two art styles, one pod

Neon line art is the soul of the collection. Glowing outlines on dark water, generated from one beluga, a big pile of accessories and these worlds, by a generator I vibe-coded after I got rugged down to .012 SOL.
The cartoon edition is the soft side. White beluga, clean black outline, a little brown backpack, children's-book energy. The pod is a mix of neon line art and a cartoon edition, and the cartoon side is still growing. Same characters, second look.
#013 got the deluxe cartoon treatment: Condado Beach, a mirror that shows him as a champion, a ring on the sand, a fight-night press conference. You'll see a lot more of that around the reveal.
Where the universe goes next
Big Belugas is the first pod, not the last. Another collection is already taking shape.
I'm not going to spoil it. I'll just say the ocean is big, #099 is the last number in this pod, and the last number is a good place to start a new story. ๐ Holders see it first.
